Greetings EPEA Brothers and Sisters! The end of the school year is often a time of reflection- of what was done well, and what needs improvement. Your EPEA representatives will be doing the same regarding the work of our union. We will be attending the NYSUT Local Action Project (LAP), Year 2, for a week-long training in Saratoga this July.
Some new EPEA events this year included our 403B Seminar, our NonTenured staff member social as well as participating in the Student Debt Loan Clinic. We created some new activities for EPEA members to come together such as our wine tasting event and our curling event. We even put a new spin on our holiday giving with our Holiday Giving Tree.
Very positive strides were made this year in maintaining and developing our union. In this post Janus world, it is so important that we maintain our strength as a union-- and the leadership is strongly committed to this endeavor!
The 2019-20 school year will look very different for the EPEA Executive Board and Board of Representatives. The new structure will become effective July 1. Throughout the summer we will be working out all the details and you can look forward to a member of the Board of Representatives reaching out to you in late summer/early fall.
On a personal note- I look forward to serving in my third term as your President. It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve in this role. Have a beautiful summer!
Yours in Solidarity,
Donna Walters
Erie 1 Professional Education Association President
