Mary Tomczak’s high school APE PE classes at Winchester Academy enjoyed snowshoeing as part of the "Outdoor Pursuits" Curriculum. The students spent one day being fitted for shoes and getting accustomed to the feel of them on their feet. They were given social stories to prepare them to go outside. They learned about "bindings" which are the straps that attach your foot to the snowshoe. They learned about Step Kicking, a method of ascending a steep snow slope. They had a blast. They loved it!
