Students in Theater Exploration have been skimming the surface of what it takes to put on a stage production. They have learned what it takes to design a set by planning and building their own, to scale, 3D models of a set based on a fairy tale of their choice. As part of the set design unit, students listened to a presentation about set and art design from David Butler. Mr. Butler is a local production designer, artist, and actor who has worked on such films as Emelie, Lez Bomb, and The First Purge. Students also enjoyed a field trip to Shea’s Theater where they learned the history and architecture of this Buffalo icon and were allowed on stage and to visit the back stage area and dressing rooms.
